| About 10 years ago I was in Costa Rica when I heard this song that brought tears to my eyes. I did not know the words but after learning more about the words today more tears of joy came. I interpret this song/poem to be our shared heart-felt inquiry into life's great mystery in us and around us. It is the deep yearning to know that resonates from our soul, our birth right to enlightened science. Below is my initial internet-assisted interpretation to Silvio’s song/poem. The song title is Escaramujo: which are the little crustaceans that travel around the world living on the bow of ships. TRANSLATION: For why Earth is my house? Why the night is dark? Why the moon is whiteness that gets fat as it becomes thin? Why a star connects with another one, like a drawing? And why the escaramujo is of the rose and the sea? I live to ask: to know cannot be luxury. The boiling water in stew loosens a soul that raises to dissolve in the cloud that soon will be heavy shower. (As to the boy) I am so asking, so feast of the riches, that withered if I lose him an answer to my assumption. What is not a right, is certain to be left. I came to ask flower and ebbing tide. I am of the rose and of the sea, like the escaramujo. I am music, song, tone, I am Muhammad, I am Lao-Tse, I am Jesus Christ and Yahweh, I am the plume cosmic serpent (Quetzequatl), I am the astonished pupil that discovers as he aims, I am everything that it is joined to live and to dream. I am the destiny of the sea, I came to ask flower and ebbing tide. I am of the rose and of the sea, like the escaramujo. |
